"Overman" MAR1LYN MAN5ON in Berlin

Jerry Falwell, der Scharfmacher der christlich-fundamentalistischen Rechten in den USA, beschuldigte die Gothik-Rocker um den androgynen Sänger MAR1LYN MAN5ON herum, mitschuldig zu sein für das Massaker in der Columbine High School von Littleton, Colorado, dem Mittelklasse-Vorort von Denver. Zwei durchgeknallte Oberschüler, gestylt im Look einer sogenannten Trenchcoat-Mafia, mähten pünktlich zu Hitlers 110. Geburtstag zwölf ihrer Mitschüler nieder, vergaßen dabei nicht einen ihrer Lehrer, und reisten schließlich selbst ins Walhalla, als sie vor der anrückenden Staatsmacht kein Entkommen mehr sahen. Die gerade in Jugoslawien "friedensstiftende" NATO-Vormacht befand sich im Aufruhr. Nicht das Vorbild einer bombenwerfenden Megagewalt, die staatliche Repräsentanz einer durchaus nicht gerade friedvollen Gesellschaft, durfte für diesen Amoklauf verantwortlich gemacht werden, sondern Kritiker eben dieser gewaltproduzierenden Verhältnisse mußten dafür herhalten: MAR1LYN MAN5ON und Band.

Es störte dabei keineswegs, daß die beiden Schulkiller gerade eben diese Gruppe haßten, wie die lokale Rocky Mountain News schnell herausfand, und viel eher dem eingängigen Sound der deutschen Blödelrocker Rammstein (www.rammstein.com/tragedy.html) lauschten, die mit ihrer Nähe zur Naziästhetik kokettieren. Ihr zweiter Bezugspunkt sei eine weitere deutsche Band gewesen: KMFDM, das für Kein Mitleid Für Die Mehrheit steht (www.kmfdm.net ). Das paßt auch gut zusammen, die Killer fühlten sich dem Kulturkreis zugehörig, dem der französische Philosoph Paul Celan den Spruch "Der Tod ist ein Meister aus Deutschland" aufgedrückt hat: Untereinander sprachen sie gebrochenes Deutsch und sie kannten die Bedeutung des 20. April für Nazi-Nostalgiker.

Falwells Attacken zeigten jedoch Wirkung, MAR1LYN MAN5ON mußte mehrere Konzerte absagen. Er drückte sein tiefes Bedauern über die Vorfälle aus und zeigte Unverständnis, warum ausgerechnet Entertainer wie er in den Verdacht geraten könnten, mit derartigem Irrsinn in Zusammenhang gebracht zu werden. Dieses Unverständnis wiederum weist auf einen Mangel in seinem eigenen Verständnis seiner Umwelt hin. Er bleibt im Nihilismus stecken, den er, wie die High School Kids von Littleton ihren Wahn, ideologisch aus deutschen Landen bezieht. Antichrist-Superstar ist niemand anderem als Friedrich Nietzsches "Übermensch" (Overman/Superman) nachempfunden. Das reicht aus, der Gesellschaft ihren Spiegel vorzuhalten und sie damit in ihrer Amoralität zu entlarven, ganz so wie es der Protestgeneration der sogenannten 68iger gelungen war, dies gegenüber der spießerhaften Kriegs- und Nachkriegsgeneration zu tun.

Überhaupt ist Brian Warner, so MAR1LYN MAN5ON bürgerlicher Name, ein Kind, ein Nachfahre der 68iger. Das drückt er in seiner Namensgebung ebenso aus, wie in dem Rückgriff auf Nietzsche (hier nicht unähnlich zu Jim Morrison, dem Doors-Poeten, oder etwa dem Berliner 68iger Haschrebellenprotagonisten Bodo Saggel, "Der Antijurist", der sich in seiner damals radikalen Knast- und Justizkritik ebenfalls auf den "Also sprach Zarathustra"-Philosophen bezog) . Marilyn Monroe war das Sex-, das Hollywoodsymbol der frühen Sechziger und Killer-Kommunarde Charles Manson, der Mörder des damaligen Hollywoodstars Sharon Tate ("Tanz der Vampire"), das Symbol des fehlgeleiteten Hippietums der späten Sechziger. Die Mixtur aus beiden ist AmeriKKKa bis heute, MAR1LYN MAN5ON somit der Spiegel Bill Clintons (MoniKKKa + KKKosovo). Er leistet für die Musikszene das, was im Film kurz in Pulp Fiction auf der Leinwand aufblitzte, die Negierung der alles erstickenden moralischen Mainstreamsoße im Showbusiness: "I'm so all-American I'd sell you suicide".

Hierfür haßt Jerry Falwell, der Heuchler der christlichen Moral Majority-Bewegung, MAR1LYN MAN5ON wirklich, für das Aufzeigen des Verfalls der bürgerlichen Idylle. Statt sich mit diesen Themen grundlegend auseinanderzusetzen, greift er zur billigsten Denunziation. Die richtigen Feinde zu haben, ist aber eine Ehre, und MAR1LYN MAN5ON kann stolz darauf sein, die richtigen zu haben.

Unter der Rubrik "Love, Peace, And Anarchy" ließ sich ein Gedicht namens "The Endless Lust" finden, in dem es eingangs heißt:

And I'm red,
I'll kill them all,
Til too I'm dead!
The riots fill,
The streets I roam,
The chaos kills:
My only home
So...
Let it go my dear,
Tear away my fear,
The end is near,
Our lust for love is here
..."

Wir wissen nicht, ob der FBI hier schon eingegriffen hat, möglich wär's angesichts der herrschenden Hysterie nach Littleton. AOL hätte sich hier sicher nicht lumpen lassen. Ähnliche Texte hat dieser Provider bereits löschen lassen und die dazugehörigen Accounts gekündigt.

Wünschen wir MAR1LYN MAN5ON und seiner Band viel Erfolg am 25. Juni 1999 17.00 Uhr in der Berliner Wuhlheide und eine bessere Anlage als die, die Metallica dort zuletzt zur Verfügung stand. "Overman" MAR1LYN MAN5ON in Berlin

Jerry Falwell, the right extremist of US-Christian fundamentalism, blamed the Gothic rockers around the androgynous musician MAR1LYN MAN5ON to be partly guilty for the massacre that took place in the middle class dominated Columbine High School in Littleton near Denver, Colorado. Two freaked out seniors of the same school, styled in the looks of the so called Trench Coat Mafia, performed a killing spree on Hitler's 110^th birthday that took the lives of 12 class mates and the life of one of their teachers before travelling to Walhalla themselves when they realized there was no escape from the advancing armed official forces. The nation, just being on a NATO "peace-keeping" mission in Yugoslavia, was in uproar. Not the "shining example" of a bomb throwing mega-force, the representative of a society which is far from being non-violent, was made responsible for this act of amok, no, the critics of the societal conditions in which violence is produced were targeted: MAR1LYN MAN5ON and band.

Nobody was disturbed by the fact that the two killer kids hated just this group, as the Rocky Mountain News quickly found out. They rather listened to the sounds of the simple-minded German rockers of Rammstein (www.rammstein.com/tragedy.html) who try to provoke attention by using nazi-aesthetics. Their second favorite group was another German originated band: KMFDM, an acronym for Kein Mitleid Für Die Mehrheit (No Pity For The Majority), on the web in: www.kmfdm.net . This seems to fit into a scheme. The killers felt being part of a culture that was characterized by the French philosopher Paul Celan's phrase: "Death is a master from Germany". They spoke broken German with one another and they knew the relevance of four-twenty (20^th April) for people reveling in nazi-nostalgia.

Falwell's attacks however were partly effective, MAR1LYN MAN5ON had to cancel several concerts in different states of the USA. He expressed his deep regrets about the events and he showed his lack of understanding that entertainers like him were linked to this kind of insanity, thus demonstrating his inefficiency of analyzing the society around him. He gets stuck in the nihilism that he ideologically imported from the same Germany where the Littleton murderers got their ideas from, too. His "Anti-Christ Superstar" is nobody else than Frederick Nietzsche's "Übermensch" (Overman/Superman). It's sufficient to confront the US society with its own reflection in his artistic mirror and thus to uncover its amorality, just as the protest generation of the sixties succeeded in doing the same with the conservatism and conformism in the post WW2 era.

Talking about the sixties, that's what Brian Warner, MAR1LYN MAN5ON'S birth name, really is, a child and descendent of the sixties. This fact is not only shown in his adopted name but also in his reference to Nietzsche ( Jim Morrison, the Doors' poet, and Bodo Saggel, the less famous "Anti-Jurist" of the '68 Berlin hashish anarchists, both, too, referred to the "Thus Spoke Zarathustra"- philosopher). Marilyn Monroe was the symbol of sex and Hollywood of the early sixties, the killer communard Charles Manson, murderer of Hollywood star Sharon Tate ("Dance of the Vampires"), was the negative symbol of the then misled hippie movement of the late sixties. The mixture of the two is AmeriKKKa till today, MAR1LYN MAN5ON is the mirror of Bill Clinton (MoniKKKa + KKKosovo). It's his achievement for modern music, it's just what Pulp Fiction meant for the movies, the negating of the suffocating mainstream sauce in show-business: "I'm so all-American I'd sell you suicide".

Jerry Falwell, the hypocrite of the Christian Moral Majority movement, hates MAR1LYN MAN5ON for that, for the exposure of the decay of petit bourgeois idyll. Instead of looking for the real reasons of this decay he rather is cheap shooting with denunciations. But to have the right enemies is an honor and MAR1LYN MAN5ON can be proud to have the right ones.
